Look after the environment, you only get one.

Today is blog action day, so I thought I'd write a few lines while waiting for supper to finish cooking (Michael's work, of course, not mine).

One of my pet environmental peeves is littering, simply because it's so unnecessary. Would it kill you to take two extra steps when you get off the bus, to drop your ticket into a bin? And why do you assume it is your right to use the streets as you personal ashtray? And there is never any excuse for chucking wrappers out of your car window. Be a grown-up, take your litter home.

End of rant.

Remember, Captain Planet says, the power is yours to save the environment!

Adjusting

This married life thing takes some getting used to, but I think we're getting the hang of it.

Some of it is getting used to the new flat, some of it is getting used to the business of cooking/cleaning/laundry etc, and some of it is just getting used to living with this other person!

Sometimes Michael drives me CRAZY, (sometimes on purpose, like now when he is pretending to type next to me) and sometimes inadvertantly, like when he walks around whistling with that piercing whistle of his. Sometimes I drive him crazy too, but hey. It's character-building.

It's funny how habits are hard to break. In English, I'm more or less used to saying "husband" instead of "fiancé", but in Maltese I haven't got the hang of saying "ir-ragel" instead of "l-għarus".

Mike has habits of his own to break - getting used to driving home to our new place instead of to his parents' or mine.

On the way home from watching No Reservations in Paceville:

Me: Erm, why are we on this road?

Mike: Ah, I was about to ask you the same thing...

The division of labour has occurred more or less naturally, according to skills and inclination... he's in charge of the DVD player, I operate the microwave, he's taking care of most of the DIY jobs, I do most of the tidying up, and we share the cooking.

Well, I know he'll object to that last bit since in two weeks of marriage I've only cooked twice and that was this weekend after he began nagging me...

When Michael cooks, he'll choose a complicated dish and spend ages cooking it. Me, I rifle through the fridge, sling whatever I find into a frying pan, and bung the result on noodles.

Of course, the consequences are that my meals are easier to clean up, but his taste a lot nicer.

I think that cooking is one of the ways in which Mike expresses his creative/artistic skills. He can also carve wood, play lead guitar, and make up songs on the fly, none of which I can do. I have got creative/artistic skills, but mine lie more in stick figures, flights of fancy, and blogging. So yes, I'm happy to clean up while he cooks, or to serve as his sous chef. I also let him take the lead on our grocery trips because otherwise we'd just have a pantry full of sixteen kinds of chocolate, five kinds of biscuit, three cans of tuna and two of polpa.

I wonder what he'll cook me tonight...

Top three things you don't want to hear...

...when someone is drilling a hole in your bathroom wall:

 1. Oops.

 2. Quick, turn it off from the mains!

 3. Erm, have you got a floorcloth?

Want some more, boy?

Michael and I have missed the first two lessons of the new Stagecoach term, but I don't mind because honeymoon trumps even that. We'll join our class for more musical theatre mayhem on Monday, yay.

The wedding also meant that we couldn't audition for the upcoming production of Oliver!, because we were going ever so slightly busy during the rehearsal period. We will be helping out behind the scenes instead, and we've been told that the production is... interesting...

Mrs. MaltaGirl in the house

I'm back, with husband in tow, adjusting to married life. Thanks to the guestbloggers who kept Diverse Ramblings going while we were on our honeymoon!

Our wedding was fantastic - the ceremony went very well, and the reception was a blast!

Mike and I were very nervous when we got up to sing The Servant Song to each other just before our vows - it wasn't because we were singing in front of people (we do, after all, do this on a regular basis), it was just I'm-in-the-middle-of-getting-married nerves! Our mouths were dry and our hands were shaking and we went flat in places, but we made it! Mike even nailed the tricky harmony in the second verse.

Don't ask me how, but I didn't cry during the ceremony, even though I could see my sisters bawling, heheh. Usually even just seeing a random person crying on TV will move me to sympathetic tears, but in this case I managed not to. Possibly because I had already ruined my makeup once already, when I had a little panic attack at home and hyperventilated, thank goodness I had had the foresight to invest in waterproof mascara... *grin*

Wake of Destruction...

So far it seems like Bridezilla's enjoying married life, and is getting spoiled by her new hubby in the process...

In the meantime, the wake of destruction she left behind her is slowly getting sorted...suits, flowers, food, wedding display frame, several trips to various skips to dispose of her personal belongings, support group meetings on "Controlling feelings of ecstasy after a sibling moves out"... I have to wonder if her ears ever stopped ringing throughout her honeymoon.

As her loving, adorable, angelic middle-sis *grin*, I find it my duty to warn her that revenge is brewing...muahahaha!

Middle-Sis :-D

Mum was posting on Testing, testing but meant to be blogging here... so here are here 2 posts ;)

Well Bridzilla is on her honeymoon with her hubby, on cloud 9 I hear.

The wedding was spectacular, the best one I have been to in recent years. The Wedding Ceremony was so moving, I spoke with some couples and we agreed we had come away with something special from it. Mr. & Mrs. Maltagirl sang and danced so beautifully together. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, was high on happiness, it was good to dance again thought I was too old and forgotten how but once the music started that was it. Some of the cousins and other relatives joined in, was great to all be together for such a special time. Have had such a good feedback, all very positive, most people said they get tired of going to weddings but really enjoyed this one.

Am adjusting to life without Bridezilla - one little example went to get meat out of freezer and had to remember "only 4 pieces" now!!! Missing her but happy she is happy.

Have been busy packing up her things as middle sis is moving in. One good thing is that I can get the ironing board out of my room!!!

Tomorrow going to meet relatives here from S.A. as one of them is celebrating his 70th Birthday - Congratulations etc.

Have not blogged much, only when my kids go abroad. Bridezilla asked us to help out while she is away so just doing my bit for now.

Hope you all enjoy the pics posted.

This has taken me ages, had to do other bits and pieces inbetween. Now it is late and must get to bed.
Bye 4 Now. xxxx

Post #2: Old McDonald had a farm

Old McDonald had a farm and on this farm he had some chickens - wonder how they are doing today!!!

Last night had a wonderful evening celebrating Mr. McDonalds 70th birthday with family, so very special - that is after we went round the block several times to try and park. Seems to be the same all over this island.

Been busy today packing more boxes for Bridezilla - she had better cook her hubby an extra special meal with chocolate to follow!!! At this rate she can open her own library.

Today Bridezilla's youngest sis went to the dentist and was very surprised when they took out one of her wisdom teeth - ouch, ouch!! She was sent home from work which I was very pleased about and has been resting most of the day. A real "Brave Heart".

Getting the hang of blogging although by this time of night my brain in "off mode", however this is the only time I seem to have nothing else that needs doing - Lol!! A woman's work is never done, just have to close one eye.

Hope Bridezilla and hubby are having a wonderful time at the villa, relaxing and swimming in the pool, at least the days are still quite warm for that sort of thing. According to the weatherman we should expect rain next week some time, that is ok in small doses as long as there is no flooding.

Sent wedding pics to rellies in oz etc, had a couple of replies which I have to remember to put in the guest book for her. What a wonderful job M did of decorating it, such artistic talent whereas I struggle for hours thinking up some creative way of decorating an object.

Well guess it is time to end todays blogg and think about eating supper then I shall go watch some tv.
Bye for now. Bridezilla's Mum.
